Bulldogs Lose: -
The Grandville Varsity Softball team's 2019 campaign came to an end Monday afternoon in the district Semi-Finals falling to neighborhood rival Jenison 6-2. The game was suspended in the 5th inning after lengthy rain delays on Saturday and finished on Monday. Sam Slager went the distance striking out 4 with no walks & settled down nicely to retire the last 12 hitters she faced but a 4-run 2nd inning on Saturday proved too much for the Dawgs to overcome. Grandville had multi-hit games from seniors Maggie Bentley, Lexi Dukesherer and juniors Kyleigh Moll and Maddi Ungrey, one of which was Maddi's 8th home run of the season. Senior Taylor Buiter added an RBI double. The Dawgs end their season at 31 and 5, with 30 wins for just the 2nd time in school history (2017). Grandville won all 4 tournaments they played in and won a share of the OK-Red Conference title in 2019.

Bulldogs Win: 13 - 4
The Grandville Bulldogs Varsity Softball team hosted neighbor Calvin Christian for senior night on Tuesday and bested the Squires by the score of 13-4. Five different Bulldog pitchers limited Calvin to just 4 hits over 7 innings with Sam Slager notching win #18 on the season. The Grandville offense tallied 14 hits with Taylor Buiter, Ali Schultz, Maddie Gkekas, Kyleigh Moll and Maddi Ungrey all having 2 each. One of Ungrey's was her 7th home run of the season. The Dawgs record now stands at 31 and 4 on the season with the next contest being a 10am tilt with the Jenison Wilcats to open districts this coming Saturday.

Bulldogs Win: 5 - 1
The Grandville Varsity Softball Team traveled to Hudsonville Wednesday afternoon with a chance to share the OK-Red Conference title and did just that by defeating the rival Eagles, 5-1. This marks the 4th OK-Red Conference title in the last 7 years for the Bulldogs. Sam Slager was great in the circle striking out 4, allowing no walks and limiting the Eagles to just 1 earned run on the evening. Offensively, the Bulldogs backed Slager with Maggie Bentley's 2-out double in the 3rd to chase home Emily Fontaine with the games first run. Sam Slager helped herself with a squeeze bunt to score Kyleigh Moll in the 5th to give the Dawgs a 2-0 cushion. Lexi Dukesherer and Taylor Buiter hit back to back home runs in the 6th to give Grandville a 4-0 lead. After Hudsonville pushed a run across in the bottom of the frame, the Dawgs tacked on another run with a bases loaded walk from Buiter for the final 5-1 spread and give the Grandville Bulldogs a share of the conference title.

The Grandville Varsity Softball Team scheduled a very challenging in-season tournament schedule for 2019 and the Dawgs proved up to the task.  Grandville added a 4th tournament championship to their resume winning three 1-run games versus the formidable opponents of Spring Lake, Kenowa Hills and Muskegon Oakridge. The Dawgs got great efforts in the circle Saturday with 3 complete games; 2 from Sam Slager and 1 from Lexi Dukesherer.  Offensively, Lexi hit 2 home runs, Taylor Buiter hit her 8th of the year and Maddi Gkekas had a grand slam.  Maddi Ungrey and Kyleigh Moll both added 3 hits on the day.  The Dawgs overall record now stands at 26 and 3 with a very challenging 5 league games over the next 3 days.

Bulldogs Win: 13 - 6
The Grandville Bulldogs Varsity Softball team defeated the Chargers from Covenant Christian Monday afternoon 13-6 to notch their 20th win of the season.   It was a group effort in the circle with Maddie Gkekas going 3 for the win, Bella Wylie going 2 and Maggie Bentley finishing the last 2 innings for the Dawgs. Offensively Grandville had 10 hits with triples coming from Lexi Dukesherer, Maddi Ungrey and Maggie Bentley who also had a double and 4 RBIs.  Maddie Gkekas, Taylor Buiter and Bella Wylie also added doubles.

The Grandville varsity softball team traveled to Swartz Creek on Saturday and went 3-0 to win the Swartz Creek Tournament.  The Dawgs defeated Bay City Central 7-2, the host Dragons 7-0 and Traverse City Central 18-8.  Sam Slager was excellent in the circle notching 2 wins throwing a complete game vs BCC and going 6 strong vs Swartz Creek.  Maddie Gkekas came on in relief to throw 4 solid innings to earn the win vs TCC.  The offensive highlights included 2 hits and 3 RBIs from Ali Schultz, 2 hits apiece from Lexi Dukesherer and Jenna Eddie and Taylor Buiter's 6th home run of the season vs Bay City Central. Versus the Dragons of Swartz Creek, Ali Schultz had 2 more hits, Kyleigh Moll had a triple and Maddi Ungrey accompished a rare feat of hitting 3 home runs in a single game! In game 3 versus Traverse City Central the Bulldogs spotted the Trojans 6 runs in the first inning before exploding for 18 runs over 5 innings.  Grandville tallied 17 hits, 9 for extra bases, from 10 different players highlighted by Maggie Bentley's 4th home run of the season.

Bulldogs Win: 20 - 2
The Bulldog Varsity softball team traveled to Pinery Park on Friday night for the annual Paganelli Purple Cancer Awareness Game with neighbor Wyoming and took down the Wolves 20-2 in 4 innings. Bella Wylie notched her first varsity win from the circle and was backed by plenty of Bulldog offensive support. Taylor Buiter had 3 hits and Ali Schultz, Sam Slager, Maddi Gkekas, Jenna Eddie and Emily Fontaine had doubles to pace the hitters.

The Bulldog Varsity Softball Team hosted East Kentwood on Wednesday and sent the Falcons home with an 11-1 loss.  Sam Slager went all 5 innings in the circle allowing just 1 run on 3 hits.  The Dawgs offense was led by Maggie Bentley's double and 3rd home run of the year, Kyleigh Moll's double and triple and 2 hits apiece from Sam Slager, Jenna Eddie and Taylor Buiter.

The Grandville Varsity Softball team took both ends of a double header at home vs West Ottawa Tuesday afternoon.  Game 1 saw the Dawgs tally 14 hits led by Taylor Buiter's 2 homeruns in the 4-inning 16-1 victory.  Maddi Ungrey had 3 singles and Lexi Dukesherer, Maggie Bentley and Kyleigh Moll had 2 apiece.  Sam Slager hit her 2nd homerun of the year in the 2nd inning. Game 2 was also a mercy rule shortened 6 inning contest with the Dawgs winning 11-1.  Lexi Dukesherer allowed just 1 hit over 4 innings to earn the win.  Taylor Buiter again led the Grandville offense with 2 doubles. Maddi Ungrey had a double and a single and Maggie Bentley added 2 singles to pace the offense.

The Grandville Bulldog Varsity softball team traveled to St. Johns on Saturday, went 2-0 and won the Redwing Invitational.  The tourney was shortened to just 2 games due to a team dropping needing to play a league DH makeup.   The Dawgs beat Laingsburg 15-0 in 4 innings in the opener on a combined shutout thrown from Sam Slager and Lexi Dukesherer.  The offense was potent tallying 12 hits, led by Maddi Ungrey who went 3-3 with a homerun and 6 RBIs.  Kyleigh Moll and Courtney Hardin added doubles versus the Wolfpack. Grandville got a stellar effort from the circle in game 2 from Sam Slager who threw a complete game striking out 15 Red Wings, walking just 1 and allowing just 1 earned run.  Jenna Eddie and Maggie Bentley had multi-hit games and one of Maggie's was a 3-run homer.  Taylor Buiter and Jackie Sundstrom had doubles and Ali Schultz drove in 2 for the Bulldogs.

Bulldogs Win: 3 - 2
The Bulldogs hosted Mattawan on Friday night and defeated a solid Wildcat squad 3-2.  Sam Slager threw a complete game gem from the circle striking out 5 while allowing just 3 singles and 2 unearned runs.  Lexi Dukesherer had 2 hits including the game-tying RBI single and Taylor Buiter tripled in the go-ahead run in the 5th to lead the offense.  The Dawgs overall record now stands at 10 & 2 and they return to action at Rockford next Tuesday.

Bulldogs Win: 12 - 1
The Bulldog Varsity softball team bounced back nicely after a couple of tough losses on Tuesday traveling to West Ottawa and beating the Panthers 12-1.  Lexi Dukesherer went all 5 innings of the mercy rule shortened contest allowing just 1 unearned run while striking out 5 to earn the win in the circle.  The Dawgs offfense was potent amassing 17 hits led by Taylor Buiter and Ali Schultz each with 3, Lexi Dukesherer, Maddi Ungrey, Sam Slager, Maggie Bentley and Maddie Gkekas with 2 each.

Bulldogs Win: 19 - 4
The Grandville Varsity softball team hosted Rockford on Friday night and  defeated their rival 19-4 in a 4 inning mercy rule contest.  Sam Slager went all 4 innings striking out 4 for the win in the circle.  Jenna Eddie, Lexie Dukesherer and Maddi Ungrey all had 2 hits apiece and Kyleigh Moll drove in 2 runs to pace the offense.   The Dawgs are now 8-0 on the season with an important double header Tuesday versus Hudsonville.

The Grandville Bulldogs opened 2019 OK-Red League play by taking both ends of a double header from visiting Caledonia by the scores of 9-6 and 4-1.  Sam Slager threw a complete game in the opening contest striking out 5 while allowing just 1 walk.  Taylor Buiter went 3-4 and Courtney Hardin and Maddi Gkekas added 2 hits apiece to pace the offense.   The Dawgs got another excellent outing in the circle in Game 2 as Lexi Dukesherer went the distance allowing the Scots just 4 hits and an unearned run.  Taylor Buiter had another good game at the plate with two more hits including a double.  Lexi Dukesherer added two hits and Sam Slager had a double for the Bulldogs.

The Grandville Bulldog Varsity Softball Team traveled to Forest Hills Central on Tuesday and definately brought the offense with them amassing 15 hits over 5 innings.  Maddi Ungrey and Taylor Buiter led the Dawgs with 3 hits apiece and Maggie Bentley, Maddie Gkekas and Courtney Hardin added 2 each to pace the hitters.  Jenna Eddie had a double as well.  Sam Slager went 4 innings allowing just 2 hits to earn the win in the circle.  Grandville is back in action opening league play at home on Thursday versus Rockford.

Bulldogs Win: 9 - 4
The Grandville Varsity Softball Team opened their 2019 campaign traveling to Unity Christian Wednesday afternoon and took down the Crusaders, 9-4. Lexi Dukesherer and Sam Slager combined on a 3-hitter and they got plenty of offensive support as the Dawgs tallied 11 hits. Courtney Hardin had 3 of those hits which included 2 home runs. Taylor Buiter had a 2-run shot, Ali Schultz hit a solo home run and Maddi Ungrey added a double. Grandville swiped 6 bases and played errorless in the victory.
