Girls Cross Country Place Sixth at Regional Meet

Bulldogs Lose: -
The girls cross country team placed sixth at the regional meet this past Saturday, moving up from their eighth place regional ranking. Allie Arnsman finished second with a new personal best of 17:21.95, just 1.45 seconds away from the girls cross country school record. She qualified for the MHSAA State cross country finals taking place next weekend November 5 at Michigan International Speedway. Allie is currently ranked second in the state behind West Ottawa’s Helen Sachs, who finished first in the regional race.   The rest of the varsity team finished their season with strong performances on a tough course. Chloe DeRidder (20:23) and Sarah Etcher (20:49) finished in 30th and 39th respectively. The duo of Macallie Retan (21:22) and Audrey Huff (21:25) rounded out the top five for Grandville.   Kyrstie Celebuski (23:13) and Celia Kingscott (23:39) led the JV team, followed by Erin Taylor (25:12), Izzy Hernandez (26:34), and Emma Kusmierski (27:16).

The Grandville girls' cross country team placed 5th at the OK RED Conference meet, moving up from their 8th place finishes at the prior two OK RED Jamboree meets this season. Allie Arnsman led the team in second place and a new personal record of 17:23, only three seconds behind Grandville girls overall school record. Chloe DeRidder (20:19) finished in thirtieth, followed by Audrey Huff (20:51), Sarah Etcher (20:56) with a season record, and Elise Ferguson (20:56) with a personal record. The JV girls were led by Bradey Harmelink (22:25), Kyrstie Celebuski (22:26), and Bella Cardenas (22:26), all with personal best times. They were followed by Leona Keuvelaar (23:11) with a new personal record and Celia Kingscott  (23:12) with a season record. Additional personal bests were set by Mariah Martinez (22:09), Bry Andrade-Nava (23:12), Ella McCrumb (23:30), Josie Callendar (24:37), Hailey Buikema (25:09), Daisy Reava (25:09), Lilli Collett (25:23), Grace Hargrove (25:26), Izzy Hernandez (25:27), Ellery Johnson (25:49), and Elena Spicer (32:53). Additional season bests were set by Adi Martin (25:26) and Kassey Pachulski (25:28).

The Grandville girls cross country team finished 20th out of 31 schools at the Portage Invitational this past Saturday, just ahead of their OK RED Conference competitors Hudsonville (22nd), Caledonia (23rd), and East Kentwood (26th). Allie Arnsman led the team with a new personal record (17:27) and third place finish in the biggest cross country race in Michigan. Chloe DeRidder (19:52) finished in a new personal best time and with the 15th-fastest time ever for Grandville girls cross country sophomores. Audrey Huff (20:42) and Macallie Retan (20:52) were next for Grandville, both completing the 5k course in personal best times. Sarah Etcher (21:16) rounded out the top five with a season record.   The JV team was led by Kyrstie Celebuski (22:52), Bradey Harmelink (22:53), Celia Kingscott (23:22) in a season record time, Leona Keuvelaar (23:38), and Bry Andrade-Nava (23:50) with a personal best time.   Additional personal records were achieved by Mariah Martinez (22:26), Amarie Huston (24:18), Josie Callendar (25:11), Monroe Grifhorst (25:23), Lilli Collet (25:28), Izzy Hernandez (25:31), Emily Piper (25:36), Liv Fritz (26:17), and Elena Spicer (32:58). Season records were set by Adi Martin (25:27), Kassey Pachulski (25:54), Grace Hargrove (26:18), Emma Kusmierski (26:28), and Emberlee Parks (27:33).   The girls are gearing up to race their last regular season cross country meet at the OK RED Conference meet at Riverside Park Thursday, October 20.

The girls cross country team competed at their second Jamboree meet of the season on Tuesday. Allie Arnsman (17:44) led the Grandville team with a third place finish, followed by Chloe DeRidder (20:42), Audrey Huff (21:27), and Macallie Retan (22:21). Mariah Martinez (22:38) rounded out the top five for Grandville with a new personal record. An additional personal best was set by Elena Spicer (34:25), and a season best was set by Monroe Grifhorst (26:12).   The girls will compete next at the Portage Invitational this Saturday October 8.

The Grandville girls cross country team finished 5th at the Falcon Invite this past Saturday, just ahead of 6th place Zeeland West thanks to a strong race by Mariah Martinez (22:43) in a new personal record and top-50 finish to break the tie. The girls were led by Allie Arnsman with a first-place finish in 17:47, followed by Chloe DeRidder (20:21) and Audrey Huff (20:52), both with personal best times and top-30 finishes. Macallie Retan (21:44) completed the 5k in the top 40, followed by Sarah Etcher (22:22) with a season best time.   The JV girls were led by Kyrstie Celebuski (22:38) and Bella Cardenas (23:41) with personal best times. Ella McCrumb (24:31), Leona Keuvelaar (24:32), and Amarie Huston (24:41) rounded out the top five for Grandville within twenty seconds of each other and placed in the top 40 in the race. Amarie finished the race with a personal record.   Additional personal bests were set by Montaine Poincloux (26:34) and Elena Spicer (35:14), and a season record was set by Emberlee Parks (28:03).   The Grandville girls look forward to their next race at Gainey Athletic Complex Tuesday October 4 for the second Jamboree of the season.

The Grandville girls cross country team placed sixth out of ten teams this weekend at the Cougar-Falcon Invite. Allie Arnsman led the team with an overall win and new senior record time of 17:41. Chloe DeRidder (20:37) placed 15th overall with a new personal record time, followed by Macallie Retan (21:43) in 35th with a personal best, Audrey Huff (22:10) in 42nd, and Sarah Etcher (23:05) in 50th.   In the JV race, the girls finished 8th out of 13th teams, led by Bella Cardenas (24:01) and Bry Andrade-Nava (24:12) both with personal best times. Leona Keuvelaar (24:19) was close behind with a top-50 finish, followed by Amarie Huston (25:10) and Lilli Collet (25:46), both with personal best times.   In the freshman-only race, Kyrstie Celebuski (23:34) placed 18th and Izzy Hernandez (26:28) finished in the top 50, both completing the 5k with personal best times.   Additional personal records were set by Ella McCrumb (23:42), and Montaine Poincloux (26:58). Season records were set by Celia Kingscott (23:24), Hailey Buikema (26:05), and Emily Piper (26:50).   The girls look forward to racing again Saturday October 1 at the Allendale Invitational.

The girls cross country team ran their first Jamboree of the season at South Christian High School on Tuesday after multiple storm delays. Allie Arnsman finished third overall with a personal record of 17:48, which makes her the second fastest runner ever for Grandville girls cross country. Chloe DeRidder (21:19) finished in the top 50 with a season record, followed by Audrey Huff (21:40), Macallie Retan (21:58), and Mariah Martinez (23:01), all with personal records. Celia Kingscott (23:30) and Ella McCrumb (24:09) finished in the top seven for Grandville, with Celia running a season record and Ella running a personal record.   Additional personal records were set by Bella Cardenas (24:16), Izzy Hernandez (26:53), Montaine Poincloux (28:01), and Elena Spicer (35:56), and a season record was set by Emily Piper (27:46).   The girls race again this Saturday at the Cougar-Falcon Invitational.

The Grandville girls cross country team competed with grit at the West Ottawa Bredeweg Invitational this past Saturday for their second race of the season. Allie Arnsman led the team with a third-place finish and new personal record. Additionally, her time of 18:07 makes her the fastest senior to ever come through Grandville girls cross country. Chloe DeRidder (22:46) finished next for Grandville, followed by Macallie Retan (22:50), Audrey Huff (22:53), and Bradey Harmelink (23:19), all who finished in the top 100 in the race. The girls varsity finished 13th out of 19 schools.   The JV girls were led by Bella Cardenas (25:28) with a new personal record, Ella McCrumb (25:29), Amarie Huston (25:41) with a new personal record, Kyrstie Celebuski (25:59), and Bry Andrade-Nava (26:15).   Even under hot conditions, a season record was set by Emma Kusmierski (29:09) and a personal record was set by Mariah Martinez (23:20).   The Grandville girls look forward to the next cross country meet at their home course, South Christian High School, Tuesday September 20.

The Grandville girls cross country team competed at the Under the Lights Invite Friday night for their first race of the season. Allie Arnsman (18:23) led the team with a first-place finish and second fastest senior time ever in Grandville girls cross country history. The duo of Elise Ferguson (21:16) and Chloe DeRidder (21:21) finished 26th and 28th respectively, followed by freshman Macallie Retan (22:14) in her first high school race. Audrey Huff (22:42) rounded out the top five, helping the girls to finish sixth out of twelve teams.   Bradey Harmelink (22:52) ran a strong first high school race, finishing in the top six for Grandville to break the tie over Muskegon Western Michigan Christian. Bella Cardenas (25:22), Amarie Huston (25:48), Ellery Johnson (29:18), and Izzy Hernandez (29:56) also finished their first high school cross country 5k for Grandville.   Personal records were achieved by Leona Keuvelaar (23:37), Daisy Reava (25:13), Josie Callendar (25:42), Sam Richards (29:17), and Elena Spicer (37:23).   Full results can be found here: https://www.athletic.net/CrossCountry/meet/203922/results/847444
