Allie Arnsman Runs to 17th Place Finish at State Championships

Bulldogs Lose: -
Allie Arnsman, who finished 20th at the MHSAA State Championships in 2020, returned to the Michigan International Speedway this year to place 17th in a very competitive field. Despite struggling through injuries and only racing five times leading up to this meet, Allie returned to the competition with a time of 18:20, just 8 seconds off of her personal best time. Allie is now one of seven Grandville cross country girls to achieve All-State at least two times.

The Grandville girls cross country team competed at the Regional meet and placed 6th. Allie Arnsman (18:25) finished 2nd and qualified for the State meet, followed by Sarah Etcher (20:48) in 39th, Leah Vanspronsen (21:16) in 50th, Jordyn Harrington (21:18) in 51st, Chloe DeRidder (21:22) in 53rd, Elise Ferguson (22:20) in 66th, and Audrey Huff (22:41) in 69th.   Four JV girls competed in the open race. Celia Kingscott (23:24) led the group with a season record, followed by Kassey Pachulski (24:14), Emma Kusmierski (25:46) and Makenna Kolenda (27:51).   Allie Arnsman, who placed 20th at the State meet in 2020, will continue on to compete at the State Championships this Saturday November 6 at Michigan International Speedway.

The Grandville girls' cross country team finished 7th place in the very competitive OK RED Conference meet Thursday evening at Riverside Park.  Allie Arnsman (18:21) returned to race for the Grandville Dawgs for the first time in a month due to an injury to lead the team with a strong 5th place finish. She was followed by the very tight pack of Sarah Etcher (20:56) in 41st, Leah Vanspronsen (20:58) in 42nd, Jordyn Harrington (21:00) in 43rd, and Chloe DeRidder (21:11) in 47th, all with personal best times. Audrey Huff (22:09) rounded out the top six girls for Grandville, also with a new best time. The JV girls were led by Elise Ferguson (21:13) and Mariah Martinez (23:22), both with personal best times. They were followed by Celia Kingscott (23:33) who ran to a season best, and Kassey Pachulski (23:49) and Leona Keuvelaar (24:25), both with personal best times. Additional personal bests were set by Bryana Andrade-Nava (24:29), Emma Kusmierski (24:38), Adi Martin (24:48), Ella McCrumb (25:06), Monroe Grifhorst (25:38), Hailey Buikema (25:57), Daisy Reava (26:14), Emberlee Parks (26:45), Georgia Moody (26:50), Josie Callendar (27:00), Olivia Fritz (27:00), Lauryn Brachman (27:22), and Elena Spicer (40:57). Emily Piper (26:53) ran to a season best time. Varsity will continue on to compete at the Regional cross country meet Saturday, October 30 at Allendale High School.

The Grandville girls cross country team finished 33rd at the Portage Invitational. The varsity team was led by Sarah Etcher (20:45), Jordyn Harrington (21:42), and Chloe DeRidder (21:44) all with new personal records. Leah Vanspronsen (22:32) and Audrey Huff (23:17) rounded out the top five for Grandville.   The JV team was led by Kassey Pachulski (24:38) with a new personal record, Mariah Martinez (24:44), Lydia DeCook (24:56), Emma Kusmierski (25:07) with a new personal record, and Bryana Andrade-Nava (25:47).   Additional personal records were achieved by Monroe Grifhorst (26:02), Josie Callendar (27:38), Lauryn Brachman (27:48), Emberlee Parks (27:55), and Elena Spicer (41:34).   The girls are gearing up to run their last regular-season cross country race at the OK-RED Conference meet at Riverside Park Thursday, October 21.

The girls cross country team competed at their second Jamboree meet at West Ottawa on Tuesday, finishing eighth. Sarah Etcher (21:27) led the Grandville team, followed by Leah Vanspronsen (22:07), Chloe DeRidder (22:16), Jordyn Harrington (22:30), and Audrey Huff (23:36). Personal records were achieved by Kassey Pachulski (24:57), Hailey Buikema (26:00), and Monroe Grifhorst (26:21), and a season record was set by Celia Kingscott (23:59).   The girls will compete next at the Portage Invitational this Saturday, October 9.

The Grandville girls cross country team finished 7th at the Allendale Invitational this past Saturday. Sarah Etcher (21:05) led the varsity team with a 24th place finish and new personal record, followed by Jordyn Harrington (21:46) in 37th, Leah Vanspronsen (22:07) with a new personal record and in 40th, Chloe DeRidder (22:13) in 44th, and Elise Ferguson (23:33) in 51st place.   The JV race ran into a small delay due to a bee’s nest on the course, resulting in a last-minute change to reduce the distance from 3.1 miles to two and a half. The team took it in stride and finished with strong performances, led by Kassey Pachulski (18:31), Emma Kusmierski (18:31), Celia Kingscott (18:36), Lydia DeCook (19:01), and Bryana Andrade-Nava (19:32).   The girls will be racing next at their second Jamboree meet this Tuesday at West Ottawa.

Sarah Etcher (21:06) finished in 40th place with a new personal record, followed by Jordyn Harrington (21:45), Leah Vanspronsen (22:11) with a personal best time, Chloe DeRidder (22:15), and Audrey Huff (22:30) with a personal best time. The JV girls were led by Lydia DeCook (25:06). Ella McCrumb (25:09) and Kassey Pachulski (25:09) were close behind with personal records, followed by Celia Kingscott (25:09) and Bryana Andrade-Nava (25:16) with season bests.   Additional personal records were set by Lizzy Carrillo (23:46), Mariah Martinez (24:07), Adi Martin (25:16), Leona Keuvelaar (25:31), Daisy Reava (26:46), Monroe Grifhorst (26:55), Olivia Fritz (28:21), Emberlee Parks (29:07), and Lauryn Brachman (29:19). The Grandville girls cross country team took 13th place at the Ottawa Hills Invitational this past Friday at Riverside Park. Junior Allie Arnsman (18:14) won the race by 19 seconds, followed by Sarah Etcher (21:15) with a new personal record, Jordyn Harrington (21:59), Chloe DeRidder (23:21), and Leah Vanspronsen (23:22).   The JV team took 11th, led by Lizzy Carillo (23:51) with a new personal record, Lydia DeCook (24:56) with a season record, Kassey Pachulski (24:56), Ella McCrumb (26:17), and Celia Kingscott (26:33) with a season record.   Additional personal records were set by Mariah Martinez (24:23), Monroe Grifhorst (27:42), and Daisy Reava (28:06), and Olivia Fritz (30:30). The Grandville girls cross country team competed well at the West Ottawa Bredweg Invitational this past Saturday for their second race of the season. Allie Arnsman led the team with a third place finish and new personal record. Her time of 18:12 makes her the 5th fastest cross country girl to come through Grandville, and the 2nd fastest Grandville junior ever. Sarah Etcher (21:22) finished next for Grandville with a new personal record and in the top 50 with a 47th place finish, followed by Jordyn Harrington (22:10), Chloe DeRidder (22:25), and Leah Vanspronsen (23:19). The girls varsity finished 11th out of 19 schools.   The JV girls were led by Emma Kusmierski (25:21) and Kassey Pachulski (26:06) each with new personal records, Celia Kingscott (26:48), and Adi Martin (27:36) and Bryana Andrade-Nava (28:02) with season records.   Additional season records were set by Makenna Kolenda (28:03), Hailey Buikema (28:05), and Georgia Moody (29:36). Personal records were achieved by Audrey Huff (23:22) and Lauryn Brachman (30:49).   The Grandville girls look forward to their next cross country meet at Riverside Park on Friday, September 17.
Girls XC Race Under the Lights in First Meet of the Season

The Grandville girls cross country team competed at the Under the Lights Invitational this past Friday night for their first race of the season. Junior Allie Arnsman (18:41) led the varsity team and finished third overall with the 8th fastest junior time ever for Grandville Girls cross country. Sarah Etcher (21:25) finished in 35th with a new personal record, followed by Jordyn Harrington (21:45) in 47th. Chloe DeRidder (22:10) and Leah VanSpronsen (23:07) rounded out the top five in their first high school cross country meet to help the team finish 12th overall in a very competitive race.   Elise Ferguson (21:59) won the JV race, just 15 seconds away from her personal best time and a full minute ahead of second place. She was followed by Zoe Laporte (25:51) in her first cross country 5k race ever, Lydia DeCook (26:12), Makenna Kolenda (28:09), and Adi Martin (28:17). The girls JV finished 12th overall.   In the freshmen JV race, Lizzy Carillo (24:53) finished third overall, followed by Leona Keuvelaar (26:53), Kassey Pachulski (28:37), Monroe Grifhorst (28:55), and Samantha Richards (30:58). The freshmen girls finished first in the freshmen JV division.   The team had many other girls who ran their first high school cross country race, including Daisy Reava (28:22), Olivia Fritz (32:37), Lauryn Brachman (32:55), and Audrey Huff (23:44). Additionally, Emma Kusmierski (26:05) ran to a personal best time.
