Girls Cross Country Show Strong Performances at the Regional Meet

Bulldogs Lose: -
The Grandville girls cross country team competed at the regional meet this past Saturday. Allie Arnsman (20:49) finished in the top fifty with a personal best time, followed by Maddy Wolf (21:10) with a season best, Sofia D’Arienzo (21:14) with a personal best, Olivia McKellar (21:36), and Hailey Kempf (22:11) with a season record.   There were many other personal bests for the day, including a PR by Celia Kingscott (22:20). In the JV race, Adi Martin (27:22) and Josie Callendar (29:00) raced to personal best times, and Rose Meyer (22:20) completed another very consistent race with a season record.

The JV cross country girls competed very well at the Otsego PR Invitational Tuesday evening in the cold wind and rain. Leading the way with a new personal record and top 30 finish in her final high school race was senior Alex Webster (22:24), followed by Bryana Andrade-Nava (25:21), Hailey Buikema (26:19) and Grace Hargrove-Brown (25:53) both with personal bests, and Sarah Etcher (27:01).   Other strong performances with new personal bests included Georgia Moody (27:45) who also earned the Hungry Dawg award for the biggest PR of the day, Adi Martin (28:03), and Josie Callendar (28:13).

The Grandville girls cross country team competed at Riverside Park this Thursday at the OK-Red Conference Championships. Olivia McKellar (20:43) led the Grandville team, followed by Allie Arnsman (21:01) with a new personal best by 32 seconds, Elise Ferguson (21:44) with a personal best by 24 seconds, and Sofia D’Arienzo (21:48) with a personal best by 13 seconds. Hailey Kempf rounded out the varsity girls with another solid, consistent performance.   The JV race was led by Rose Meyer (22:44). Lindsay Keranen (23:18) and Alex Webster (23:26) finished close behind both with new season bests, followed by Halle Oczepek (23:47) and Maddi Sarber (24:20).   Grace Hargrove-Brown (27:03) and Georgia Moody (28:13) both finished with new personal bests by nearly a minute, and Adi Martin (28:14) ran to a personal record by over thirty seconds.   Varsity will continue on to compete at the regional cross country meet Saturday October 26 at Portage West Middle School.

The Grandville girls cross country team had many incredible performances at the Portage Invitational. The varsity team was led by Olivia McKellar (20:38) with a new personal record and GHS girls cross country Top 20 Freshman time, Maddy Wolf (21:29) with a season record, Allie Arnsman (21:33) with a personal record, Celia Kingscott (22:33) with a personal record, and another solid performance by Hailey Kempf (22:49).   Sofia D’Arienzo (22:01) led the JV team with a second break-out performance, finishing in the Top 50 Reserve race with a new personal record by a minute and forty seconds. She was followed by other strong performances by Lindsay Keranen (23:18) with a season best, Alex Webster (23:32) who also ran a season best, Halle Oczepek (23:45), and Emily Gray (24:10) with a season best.   Additional season records were achieved by Grace Fitzgerald (24:39), Natalie Lehmann (25:51), and Ella Huff (25:55). There was another breakout performance, this time by Caeley Tallon (28:21) who achieved a season best by three minutes.   Georgia Moody (29:21) ran to a personal best, and Grace Hargrove-Brown (27:58), Katie Hector (29:09), Mia Mueller (31:16), and Josie Callendar (28:35) broke their personal records each by one minute.   The girls are gearing up to race at their second jamboree meet, rescheduled for Wednesday October 9 at East Kentwood High School.

The girls cross country team competed at their second Jamboree meet of the season at East Kentwood. Olivia McKellar was the first girl for Grandville to finish, followed by the Allie Arnsman, Sofia D’Arienzo, Elise Ferguson, and Hailey Kempf.   The JV girls team competed with just as much spirit and determination, led by Halle Oczepek, Lindsay Kernanen, Alex Webster, Emily Gray, and Grace Fitzgerald.   The girls will compete next at the Conference meet Thursday October 17 at Riverside Park.

The Grandville girls cross country team had many incredible performances at the Otsego Invitational this past Saturday. Olivia McKellar (21:49) led the varsity team, followed by Elise Ferguson (22:08) with a new personal record, Rose Meyer (22:38) with a season record, and strong, consistent performances by Hailey Kempf (22:39) and Celia Kingscott (23:16).   Allie Arnsman (21:43) led the JV team with a new personal record by a minute. Alex Webster (23:44) showed excellent sportsmanship with other competitors while achieving a season record by over a minute. Bryana Andrade-Nava (25:15) was the third Grandville runner to come in with a new personal record by a minute, followed by Natalie Lehmann (26:06) with a season record, and a strong performance by Ella Huff (26:40).   Many other girls ran to personal best times, including Adi Martin (28:51), Grace Hargrove-Brown (28:56), Josie Callendar (29:40), Haley White (29:41), and Mia Mueller (32:29), and Anna McGillicuddy (26:43) achieved a season best.   The girls will be racing next at their second Jamboree meet this Tuesday at East Kentwood.

The Grandville girls cross country team worked strong and tough through hot and humid races this Saturday at the Cougar-Falcon Invitational. Olivia McKellar (22:28) led the team again, placing in the top 50. Hailey Kempf (22:54) and Maddy Wolf (22:54) finished together, followed by another duo, Elise Ferguson (23:00) and Celia Kingscott (23:12).   The JV girls also had some strong performances despite the continually increasing temperatures, led by Sofia D’Arienzo (24:22), Loren Wilkie (24:55), Alex Webster (25:22), Maddi Sarber (25:35), and Natalie Lehmann (27:57).   In the freshman-only race, Bryana Andrade-Nava (27:35) led the way for Grandville, followed by Emily Piper (27:55), Hailey Buikema (29:49), Josie Callendar (33:45), and Grace Hargrove-Brown (33:51).   Even with the intense weather, we had some incredible personal achievements. Celia Kingscott and Lianna Cullin each ran to a personal best time, both by about 50 seconds each. Meanwhile Lindsay Keranen and Rose Meyer achieved season record times.   The girls look forward to racing again at the Otsego Invitational next Saturday, September 28.
Girls Cross Country Run Strong Together at the OK Red Jamboree

Bulldogs Lose: -
The girls cross country team competed at their first Jamboree meet of the season at East Rockford Middle School on Tuesday. Olivia McKellar (22:22) was the first girl for Grandville to finish, followed by the strong pack of Maddy Wolf (22:49), Allie Arnsman (22:49), Hailey Kempf (22:51), and Elise Ferguson (22:56). Maddy Wolf finished with a season record, while Allie Arnsman, Brianna Trepins (29:42), and Adi Martin (31:55) finished with personal bests. The team also had a few girls complete their first high school cross country 5k, including Lianna Cullin (24:38) and Bryana Andrade-Nava (27:04). The girls will compete again this Saturday at the Cougar-Falcon Invite at Calvin College.

The Grandville girls cross country team competed well at the West Ottawa Bredweg Invitational this past Saturday for their second race of the season. Olivia McKellar (22:13) led the team for the second time, followed by Kaylee Scott (23:07). Maddy Wolf (23:19) and Hailey Kempf (23:20) finished within a second of each other, and Elise Ferguson (23:44) completed the 5k race close behind to round out the top five.   JV had many girls step up with strong performances. The top five finishers for Grandville were Allie Arnsman (23:27), Celia Kingscott (23:54), Lindsay Keranen (24:49), Alex Webster (25:14), and Savannha Captain (25:53).   There were multiple personal records for the day, set by Josie Callendar (31:20), Grace Hargrove-Brown (29:30), Savannha Captain, and Celia Kingscott. Girls who completed their first high school cross country race were Adi Martin (32:45), Emily Piper (26:35), and Allie Arnsman (23:27).   Overall the girls competed with incredible teamwork and determination. They look forward to their next cross country meet at Rockford Tuesday September 17.

The Grandville girls cross country team competed at the Saranac Invitational this Wednesday for their first race of the season. Freshman Olivia McKellar (21:35) led the varsity team and finished 21st overall, followed by Junior Hailey Kempf (22:13, 26th), Freshman Elise Ferguson (22:30, 32nd), and Juniors Kaylee Scott (22:40, 36th) and Loren Wilkie (23:03, 42nd). Meanwhile, Senior Sofia D’Arienzo achieved a personal best by two minutes on a tough 5k cross country course!   The team also had a large number of girls complete 3.1 miles for the first time, including Katie Hector, Elise Ferguson, Maddi Sarber, Celia Kingscott, Sarah Etcher, Hailey Buikema, Bryana Andrade-Nava, Savannha Captain, Brianna Trepins, Nicole D’Arienzo, Josie Callendar, Grace Hargrove-Brown, and Mia Mueller.   The girls placed 5th out of 13 teams. They compete next at the West Ottawa Brewedweg Invitational Saturday September 7.
